Social Media Marketing and Posting Times

If you look around, it seems as though everyone is on social media these days.

Social media has served as one of the most effective digital marketing tools, penetrating into our personal lives as well as the marketing world.

However, the real dilemma for marketers is knowing how to rise above the distractions and get their posts noticed by their target audience.

Turns out, the timing of a post is a critical component of unlocking the mystery.

In fact, studies show that there is a certain time frame that marketers should post to experience more engagement.

Based on Sprout Social’s own customer database, we can see the peak times for global engagement on social media for Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

1. Facebook

  • Best times: Wednesday, 11 a.m. and 1–2 p.m.

  • Best day: Wednesday

  • Worst day: Sunday

2. Instagram

  • Best times: Wednesday at 11 a.m. and Friday from 10 a.m.–11 a.m.

  • Best day: Wednesday

  • Worst day: Sunday

3. Twitter

  • Best times: Wednesday and Friday at 9 a.m.

  • Best days: Wednesday and Friday

  • Worst day: Saturday

Because social media marketing is crucial to all businesses striving to grow their presence online, following these time frames to post is key.

Still, it’s important to note that every brand must strategize their own way to reach their audience. The timing of a post is just one way to go about it.

As social media continues to expand its relevance in marketing, it’s consequential that we not only focus on the content of our posts but also expand our focus on when and where to post.
